Kansas City is a challenging place for street photography. It’s very spread out, and in many areas, you won’t see people on foot because they’re mostly in cars. Challenge accepted.

I think we’re all susceptible to gear acquisition syndrome as photographers. We want the next shiny thing that’s going to help make our photos better or make us feel inspired. It’s important to have adequate gear, but not at the expense of going out to actually use it.

New York City is as American as apple pie. It’s an incredible place filled with people and energy. There’s no place like it in the rest of the country. That’s what makes it such an amazing place for street photography. This is my first foray into doing a New York City street photography project.

Every so often, I see someone claim that street photography is some sort of heinous crime. I think street photography is a positive force in the world, so that type of talk makes me a bit defensive. I don’t feel guilty doing street photography; I feel good about what I’m creating and sharing.
